The Subcommittee decided to move forward by reviving the Facebook Page the
Commission has used in the past instead of continuing by receiving admin access
to the History of Meridian Idaho Facebook Group managed by Robert Mortenson.
A. Belnap will reach out to Robert and update him regarding the Subcommittee’s
decision. The Subcommittee will also start utilizing the dormant Instagram page
created last year.
A. Belnap will post from Instagram to the Facebook page and commissioners will
interact with residents in the comments. J. Nary will create a content calendar for
April, but in future months, will give the opportunity to other commissioners like J.
Ault and D. Lusignan who indicated they would like to be involved. A. Belnap will
give J. Nary access to the Arts Commission Canva account so that they both will be
able to access graphics.
J. Nary will continue trying to upload the photos from the Dropbox to the Google
Drive. J. Evarts will contact his designer to send A. Belnap the Commission logo
with a transparent background and the Instagram account username and
password. J. Evarts also submitted these hashtags for each post: #OurMeridian
#Meridian #Idaho #Historical #HistoricalPlace #HistoricPreservation

MEMO TO SOCIAL MEDIA
SUBCOMMITTEE
Re: Latest Policy Update Regarding Commission Use of Social Media Platforms
March 1, 2021
“Commissions are allowed to utilize Facebook and Instagram, provided commissions have staff
liaisons that are willing and able to manage the posting of material according to our media policies
and procedures. Where practical (determined between liaisons and the Public Relations Manager)
commission posts should be re-posted to the main city pages as well.
For commissions who aren’t using media currently and want to utilize social media as a new
option, the staff liaison needs to be in contact with their supervisor and manager to make sure that
the work load and need is appropriate, and they also need to be approved by the Public Relations
Manager to ensure that our City-wide media policies/procedures are adhered to.
We will only authorize staff liaisons to make posts (not individual commissioners or other outside
people). As the City reviews communications policies and procedures for long-term
improvements, this policy could be subject to change.”
