Goettsche Dental: C.Z.C/D.R. Narrative
Goettsche Dental is a dentistry practitioner in the Boise area. They are looking to build a new facility to house
their expanding workforce and create a building more suited to their needs. The new building compliments
design styles in Meridian in a variety of ways, and each will be discussed in more detail below.
1. Architectural Character:
a. Cohesive Design: The building is designed as one building, with the dental office on one side,
and an adjacent tenant space on the other side. However, each side of the building uses
materials, and proportional relationships to create a cohesive design of the overall building.
b. Building Scale: The scale of the building is set to fit into the surrounding area. Being largely
surrounded by single family homes and other smaller buildings, Goettsche Dental office is not
overly tall, with its highest point a hair over 22'. The building compliments the surrounding
buildings.
c. Building Form: The form of the building is designed to highlight the entrance to the building. The
main building is a flat roof with a parapet, and the entrance has a shed roof above parapet
walls to help designate that space as the main entry.
d. Architectural Elements: The building is accented with several architectural features. The entry to
the building is accented with a shed roof, providing shelter from the weather before stepping
into the building, and creating an indication of where the main entry is located. The remainder
of the building is a combination of lap siding, board and Batt siding, corrugated metal and
brick.
e. Materials: The materials of the building include lap siding, bait and board siding, corrugated
metal, and brick. Both the lap siding and the board and Batt are white to accentuate different
shadow lines throughout the day. The main body of the building is a white siding (lap or board
and batt), and accent with brick base or dark bronze metal trim. The doors and windows will be
dark bronze colored vinyl or aluminum windows, and there are dark bronze metal accents
throughout the design of the building in the awnings, gutters and downspouts, roof supports,
and etc.
f. Signs and/or Lighting: Building signage will be included in a separate permit, however, the
building was designed with several locations that will work with signage, including over the main
entry, and on the longer portion of blank wall that faces Meridian Rd. Lighting for the building

was designed to keep the parking lot well lit for security purposes. There are also lights that flank
the front entry and are more decorative in appearance.
Parking Lots: The parking lot is designed with 90 degree parking with 2 way travel. The south aisle will
have parking on the south with an island on the north while the north driving aisle will have parking on
the north and south.
3. Pedestrian Walkways: A pedestrian walkway is provided from the main entry doors out to the west to
connect with the public sidewalk on S. Meridian Rd. There is also bike parking provided along this
pathway near the trash enclosure.
The new Goettsche Dental office is designed to be a great addition to the City of Meridian, creating a building
more suited to the needs ofGoettsche Dental, and adding an attractive building to the fabric of Meridian.
