As a longtime homeowner and resident of Meridian I OPPOSE the proposed changes to Meridian City Code 11-3C-
4.A.2.
Allowing recreational vehicles to be parked visibly in the front or at the side of homes will detract from the appearance
of our neighborhoods (our city) and will ultimately negatively affect property values. It is unsightly and a safety
concern.
I am a frequent walker in various neighborhoods and with the code as it exists I see campers and recreational vehicles
parked on the grass in front/side of homes and RVs/trailers extending into the sidewalks, requiring me to step around
into the street. Additionally, without proper setbacks, these recreational vehicles/trailers have the potential to obstruct
views of children and/or moving vehicles. Finally, there is the concern of individuals permanently living out of RVs. I am
sure the Council is aware this has happened in other cities. While best intentions may be to enforce code, our code
enforcement is already understaffed and overtaxed.
We are blessed to live in a beautiful city, and I believe past city management has worked hard to develop code that
promotes and retains the attractiveness of our city. Please, let’s keep it that way.
