My name is Delaine McLafferty, I'm on the HOA board of Tradewinds Subdivision. I'm writing this letter in regards to allowing homeowners and/or renters to park a trailer, boat or recreational vehicle on the street or in the driveway. As a homeowner in a subdivision with an HOA that would make that a violation of the CC&R's of Tradewinds and most of the new and existing subdivisions where it's strictly stated in the CC&R's that trailers, boats and recreational vehicles are only allowed to park in the garage but not in a driveway or on the street. We have 39 homes on 3 streets in our subdivision that actually has one street that they could use right in front of our drainage ponds, mail boxes and along the other side of the street for the width of an acre lot that would be allowed if this goes into effect. That would place all of them in one small area that would make it so that is all some of us would be able to see when looking out our windows. Those of us who bought in a subdivision that has CC&R's that don't allow trailers, boats and recreational vehicles to be parked on our property knew that going in. If you change the law to allow recreational vehicles, etc to park in the subdivisions without stating unless it violates the terms of your CC&R's, would make it impossible for the HOA management companies to enforce the rules and regulations that they agreed to when purchasing the home. Keep in mind that it might not affect you as a homeowner but it does affect a good portion of the current population of the City of Meridian and the surrounding areas. The houses built as the City of Meridian was first started and until CC&R's came into being already have the right to park on street as long as they move it every 3 days. The streets of the city are designed for all citizens to be able to use them, if trailers are stored on the street, then it takes away someone else's right to park because they are using it as a storage lot.
