I have heard from some of you, but not all of you. There is no need to respond, and I just wanted to make sure you know I am here if you have any comments or questions. Here is an update on our timing. We plan to kick off our design team in early May. They will work through Schematic Drawings to Design Documents to begin Construction Drawings towards the end of the summer. If all goes as planned, we will be mobilizing towards the end of Q4 or the beginning of Q1. There will be several months of site work before we can pour pads and go vertical. We will have our contractor outline a rough construction schedule during the design process, which I will happily share with you to keep you in the loop with the action occurring on our end. Please feel to reach out anytime. As previously mentioned, I have been working with my engineering and architecture teams to design a wall/buffer between our properties. After listening to your feedback, we have internally batted around several ideas. To maintain privacy, avoid drainage or settling issues, we propose the following: to construct a 6’ solid privacy vinyl fence with a 1 finish that reflects a wood-grain with the intentions to 1) prevent light from shining past our property line, 2) mitigate sounds travel, and 3) be visually neutral. Here is an example of the fence installed elsewhere in Meridian. Our engineers specify and install these fences often, and we stand behind their integrity. 2 Please let me know if you have any questions or comments. I know 6 feet is the highest Meridian will allow. unless you apply for a variance. Gary Annette, in a previous email you brought up a concern about ditch burning and damage that might occur to a vinyl fence. In the 23+ years we have lived here the only person that ever burned was the farmer managing the field we are discussing. So I think vinyl would be safe. I gave the remainder of the day to receive more responses, but you two were the only ones. Annette – It was concluded that a berm was not recommended based on our Civil’s direction, water mitigation, and maintenance. Regarding the use of vinyl: I have installed several high-quality vinyl fences over the last decades, and I have not experienced their deterioration. Both the quality of vinyl and the installation will be completed by professionals of the trade using a tried and true product. I also recommended the wood-like finish as it will age much better than a solid color such as the typical white. Regarding the weed burning, that is a first! I have not had someone bring that up before. I am unfamiliar with this tactic; however, I believe burning alongside any surface would not be advised. We plan to install the fence on our property, not replacing our neighbors’ fences. This will allow them to keep their existing fences, letting them maintain their property as they see fit. Gary – My team was firmly against any fence over 6’ as it would require an entirely different foundation base, and is not recommended in residential settings. With all of our structures, setbacks, landscaping, and activities existing quite a ways from our shared property line, the line of sight is intended to be as minimal as possible. Please feel free to reach out and continue this conversation. With a 5’ privacy fence and the berm, how high would the barrier be? I see that this is a vinyl fence, does anyone burn their back fence lines to mitigate weeds? If so, vinyl will melt and also deteriorates rapidly in the sun. Perhaps a fence like they have in Century Farms (south Eagle road past Amity on the east) would be a better fit?
