CC - Applicant's Response to Groundwater concerns Skip and Vickie Richardson 1835 East Victory Road Meridian, Idaho 83642 November 10, 2020 Meridian City Council Members, Here is a little background information on 1835 East Victory Road. We moved to this property October 1986. We were told that the 8 Mile Lateral had been "tiled" in the last year or two. In making improvements to the property in the following years we have seen a noticeable drop in the water table while the surrounding properties (Tradewinds and Tuscany (before development)) did not. Those properties have something in common that our property does not-open water sources. We have used a 10 foot deep pond to catch irrigation runoff water to water the large trees and the garden to the west side of the property. In 2019, the last time we irrigated, we used the pond. All summer it was full to its maximum. At the end of the irrigation season, somewhere around the middle or end of September, the pond was totally empty by the second day after we lost our irrigation water. This year, 2020„ we did not irri- gate and the pond remained bone dry all summer. I do have pictures of the holding pond during the 2020 irrigation season. In my opinion the major difference between the other two developments, Tuscany and Tradewinds, and 1835 East Victory Road is the tiled canal. Tuscany has the open dirt 8 Mile Lateral and Tradewinds has 10 Mile Creek , in addition to a poorly designed drain field. When one of our neighbors in Tradewinds made reference to the standing water in our fields it was during irrigation season when you are supposed to have water in your fields. I do.not believe that the plan is for the Teakwood development to flood irrigate. Respectfully, Skip and Vickie Richardson Scanned with CamScanner
