NEW BUSINESS [ACTION ITEMS]
1. Create an Action Plan for Generating Content for the Facebook Group
The Subcommittee discussed the History of Meridian Idaho Facebook Group
managed by Robert Mortenson and the possibility of joining forces with them.
Robert Mortenson’s Group is very active and has twice the number of members as
the Historical Society’s page so the Subcommittee agreed it made the most sense to
not compete with each other, but rather to combine. A. Belnap wasn’t sure if the
Commission is able to share admin rights or is required to exclusively hold admin
rights- she will check with Shandy Lam. The concern was brought up that if the
City shares administrative rights, the group would not be able to clear
inappropriate or off topic posts or comments. B. Johnston will reach out to Robert
to see if he is willing to combine with the Commission.
In discussing the content on the Facebook Group, the Subcommittee prefers to
leave the posting to the group members and the commissioners as needed. The
idea is to have more organic content rather than strategized or planned content.
2. Establish a Timeline for the Facebook Group Opening Campaign
The Subcommittee decided to wait until they hear back from R. Mortenson and S.
Lam to begin transitioning the followers from the former Historic Page to the new
destination, either the Historic of Meridian Idaho or the Meridian Historic
Preservation Group.
