2020-09-30 DL Charlene Way From:DL <aspen1107@gmail.com> Sent:Wednesday, September 30, 2020 4:11 PM To:City Clerk Subject:Re-zoning To Whom it May Concern: Discussion: Project Request: Rezone a total of 23.63 acres of land for the purpose of reducing the C-C zoning district from approximately 8 acres to 4.42 acres and increase the R-15 zoning district from approximately 15.1 acres to 19.2 acres. Short Plat consisting of 2 building lots and 2 common lots on 21.59 acres of land in the C-C and R-15 zoning districts. Conditional Use Permit for a multifamily development consisting of 196 residential units on 20.13 acres in the R-15 zoning district. Modification to the existing Development Agreements (Inst. #'s 10615218; 107025555; 110059432; and 114054272) for the purpose of removing the subject property from the boundaries and terms of previous agreements and entering into a new agreement consistent with the proposed development plan. This rezoning project must not be approved as it will cause traffic and safety concerns with movement on Chinden. The overgrowth in Meriden and noise pollution has greatly increased for all that live in the Spurwing and Brainbridge area. With commercial ( Costo ) just 1/2 mile away and added in some 300 plus more cars to just traverse between Black Cat and Ten mile will cause major disruption even by adding lanes to help will just bring back excess traffic and safety in crossing roads, pedestrians. The school system is overburdened and any emergency in this area will be degraded. The land should be used for parks and recreation to balance out our ecosystem with homes, people and waste. Adding some 196 residential units means in excess of some 500 people using all means of transportation. This also means extending public transportation into this community. Meridian must control growth going forward, it must do its duty to protect our environment, citizens and land use. The area that is in this rezoning issue is already over developed with new housing on the northside of Black Cat Road. This housing development will add some 1300 new people to the Meriden area, add this to the proposal and Meridian becomes a city within a city. This also means take time for crime and emergency responses will go up. Please put at the very least a hold for 5 years on development of this property as you will see if you do not, property values go down, traffic goes up and crime, emergency response time increases. 1
