Sonya,
The 24’ wide streets are public streets. Though the City’s code speaks to sidewalks on both sides of all streets, our
housing product type is not a street facing type. The narrower roadways are not intended to be pedestrian zones as the
sidewalks running through the mews provide pedestrian access to the front doors. ACHD has accepted this roadway
without sidewalks proposal as per their staff report. If we need to request this exception through our PUD, then yes, we
are asking that the 24’ wide roads not to have sidewalks required. Safety is paramount and introducing pedestrians into
a zone where vehicles are backing out of their garages without clear vision for a short distance is not
advisable. Directing pedestrians away from vehicle conflicts and to the front of the houses is where we need them to
be.

Were you intending for the 24’ wide street sections (i.e. Roads 4, 6 & 7) to be public or private? Public requires sidewalk
on both sides per UDC 11-3A-17 (or you would request an exception to that standard as part of the PUD); private
doesn’t require sidewalks.
