Subject:1625 E. Bentley Dr. AZ-H 2020-0078
City Council,
My family resides at 1710 Bentley Dr., Meridian, Idaho. My husband and I have lived in and owned this
property for the past 18 years. Prior to that, my parents owned the home dating back to its purchase by them
in August of 1971. I have a 50- year family legacy of living on this property.
1625 E. Bentley drive is directly kitty-corner to the south-west of my home. I have a direct view of that
property from my front window. We are clearly aware of the recent sale of the property and my husband has
met with and discussed the plans of the new owner. Where we are sad to see our wonderful neighborhood
encroached upon by ensuing development going on all around our city. I realize all we can do is petition our
City Officials to remember the need for quality of living to those who were here first, and honor the need we
have to maintain the integrity of our quiet, residential, family friendly, neighborhood. We realize the 1625
property will become commercial once this hearing is complete, and a business will begin construction on the
property. We hope the new owners will be respectful of the quiet narrow road entry and consider the
potential use in regard to the north half of the acre they intend to sell or lease. We would hope that the
future use of this property will be considerate of our privacy and desires to keep what essence of "quiet" may
still be in-tact, by keeping the establishment one that brings in traffic during the regular business day and not
all hours of the day and night.
We realize there are a couple of residents within our neighborhood who do not oppose development moving
in, but the larger population of this neighborhood would like to see the integrity of this quiet, well established,
family friendly neighborhood remain in-tact.
We are in the middle of raising four sons and we love the quality of life this residence provides as we continue
rearing our family. We strive endlessly to maintain our property to the best of our ability . We also would like
to preserve the quality of life we currently enjoy due to the type of neighborhood this is. We do not look
forward to seeing this neighborhood dwindle away into the City of Meridian Future Land Use Map
intentions. We love our home and hope we may continue to enjoy many more years here.
Thank you for considering our viewpoint, desires and concerns. I know many surrounding neighbors of my
property feel the same. Some are elderly and unable to communicate as easily because they do not have
access to digital communications. Considering the current conditions surrounding Covid-19, they find it
difficult to attend meetings and may feel to a disadvantage in having their views heard. However, this letter
represents the viewpoint of myself and my husband.
Thank you,
Glenna Newby
