Hello. My wife and I are writing to voice our opposition to the Victory Apartments being proposed at the corner of
Victory Rd and Meridian Rd and the rezoning to R15 High Density housing. We are homeowners and reside at 321 W.
Galvani Drive in the Strada Bellissima subdivision on the north side of Victory Rd, directly across from the planned
location of Victory Apartments. We are very concerned about our property value being negatively impacted by the
addition of high-density housing across the street. It is all but certain that the additional traffic that would come from
these additional 188 2-bedroom housing units will overwhelm Victory Road’s capacity to smoothly and effectively
handle traffic. As it is (pre-COVID), the morning traffic backs up all along Victory Road beyond the s-curve. The only way
to exit our neighborhood onto Victory toward Meridian Road is to wait for a generous driver on Victory Rd to allow you
in, even though they have likely been waiting through at least a couple of traffic light cycles. The one and only exit from
the Victory Apartments complex will be directly across from the exit from our neighborhood. This will clearly complicate
joining Victory Road, and cause unnecessary frustration and delays for all drivers concerned. As we all know, when
drivers get impatient and frustrated, they start making poor choices and taking more risks. We are concerned that there
will be crashes. We are concerned that there will be traffic jams inside of our neighborhood in the morning, including
the school buses to Mary McPherson Elementary School and Meridian High School, where our sons attend. Speaking of
school, we find it hard to believe that adding high-density housing right here will not negatively impact Mary McPherson
Elementary, Victory Middle School, and Meridian High School and their ability to handle the additional student load (we
understand that they already operate at or above capacity now). This affects our family negatively. We don’t believe
that approving R15 high-density housing for Victory Apartments is in the best interest of the citizens of Meridian who
already live here. Thank you for your time and consideration.
