Subject:Proposed Victory Apartments
To Whom It May Concern/City Council:
Unfortunately, I am unable to attend city meetings due to health concerns. My address is 2858 S. Blackspur
Way in Meridian. My home is located within the major streets of Overland, Meridian, Victory and Locust
roads.
We already have refused to support a bond, during the last election, for our local schools. They need
additional funds for their existing student enrollment. We did not refuse this bond because we don’t care
about our children and schools; it is because we can’t afford to keep paying for all the new children that come
from these high-density apartment complexes. These schools have no room for additional students!
Traffic is horrific during rush hour and other times of the day. My daughter lives in Nampa; and it is faster for
her to use Victory Road to get to work in Meridian, rather than the freeway. However, traffic on Victory and
Meridian roads are beginning to back up all the way to the previous intersections (that would be the freeway
overpass and Overland Road (from Meridian Road backing up), and Stoddard off of Victory).
We already have new apartments at the corner of Victory and Meridian roads on the southeast corner. We
don’t need any additional apartments in this area. Our schools and our streets cannot handle the additional
traffic and students. We are already in a crisis situation when it comes to students and traffic; we don’t need
to make a bad situation worse.
I was not even aware of the plans for these apartments. I found out from a concerned neighbor in Bear Creek.
They will have an extremely difficulty time trying to turn onto Victory Road. This neighbor posted their
concerns on the Nextdoor app. That is how I was notified of your intent to annex this property for high-density
apartments; and it is unacceptable! You should be required to notify all nearby residents, because we are the
people who will be expected to endure the increased traffic dangers and additional bonds to cover the costs of
the additional students!
JUST SAY “NO” TO THE APARTMENTS ON VICTORY ROAD; OUR ROADS CAN’T HANDLE THE TRAFFIC, AND OUR
SCHOOLS CAN’T HANDLE THE STUDENTS!!!
I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY NEARBY RESIDENTS (INCLUDING MYSELF) WERE UNAWARE OF THESE
PROPOSED PLANS AND CORRESPONDING CITY MEETINGS, AND I WOULD APPRECIATE A RESPONSE TO MY
EMAIL.
Sincerely,
Sondra Capobres
