Subject:Victory Apartments Project
Hello, I’m writing in concern of the proposed project on the corner of Victory and Meridian Road. My property
borders Victory Road directly across from the project. I feel that due to the following reasons that a high
density project is not a good idea for this location.
The only safe Strada Bellisima exit and entrance during commutes is at Victory road, which would also be the
only access for this project. This access is very close to Meridian Road which is a high speed/traffic road
(freeway). Additional traffic accessing Victory that close to Meridian road will be a nightmare for both Strada
and this project.
In addition, the curve on Victory road near the project is a dangerous spot, particularly in Winter. For some
reason people thing that’s a racecourse through that section and they end up in the canal after taking that
curve too quickly. I’ve been witness to this and resulting wrecks many times. If the city wanted to let this area
be developed, they should have straightened that road out. A safety hazard should not be created due to the
lack of investment in infrastructure.
There is already a large apartment complex across the street and a high density single family home
development on the other side of that. Schools are at or above capacity even with the new middle school
opening a few years ago. We need to get the infrastructure in place before additional high density is allowed.
Meridian should take a look at what Kuna is doing with being thoughtful about development. They just turned
down a huge development because they knew they didn’t have the infrastructure for it. The new expansion of
the Meridian freeway interchange is barely managing flow now.
I hope those making this decision will be thoughtful about the continued development of our city, we don’t
get a second chance.
