Subject:Proposed re-zoning of Meridian and Victory road to high density
External Sender - Please use caution with links or attachments.
I am writing to express my concern regarding the proposed change to R-15 high-density at the Meridian and
Victory roads intersection to allow for a new large-scale apartment complex.
In my opinion, this is an ill-advised action due to 1) schools in the area are already at or over
capacity. Additionally, school kids are currently dropped off buses at the Strada Bellissima subdivision where
the entrance to this proposed apartment complex sits. More traffic density on that intersection brings safety
concerns for those kids; 2) Traffic congestion on both Meridian and Victory roads is already apparent and there
currently are a number of subdivisions/housing tracts still under construction that will spill into those roads in the
near future; 3) There is already a high density apartment complex at the Meridian/Victory intersection to
accommodate those who need apartment living in the area; 4) R-15 is NOT compatible with the current homes
in the area.
Meridian has seen exponential, unchecked growth. Growth is good as long as it is planned and coincides with
current neighborhoods. Tell JUB to go back to the drawing board and build a subdivision that has less negative
impact on the existing neighborhoods. OR force these developers to invest in increasing the infrastructure
needed to accommodate increased population in the area, i.e., roads, schools, parks, etc. As I see it,
developers are not footing enough of the infrastructure costs that is then passed to tax payers.
Please re-think the advisability of more R-15 development in this area.
