NarrativeR&R Barbeque Proposal The following letter is in response to how the R&R Barbeque project will address the standards contained in the City of Meridian Architectural Standards Manual and the Unified Development Code. This project is a Tennant Improvement that is taking the place of an existing restaurant. The parking lots, pedestrian walkways and facilities have all been previously reviewed and approved for this type of establishment. The exterior modifications to the building are minimal reduced to color, minor material additions, and canopy changes that better fit the brand of R&R Barbeque. The canopy elements while being a different material from the existing canopies are still located in the same plane preserving the scale and overall feel of the existing structure. All the existing glazing, parapets, and steps in the building are to remain. The color will be changing from a tan color pallet to a grey color pallet which can be seen in many other buildings in the area. A simulated wood material will be placed in strategic locations to help maintain the human scale and distinguish our tenant space from the adjacent tenant space and allows us to maintain the R&R brand. While the existing lighting is going to be modified a little to work with the new canopies the same light fixtures will be used maintaining the existing lighting package. The new signage will meet all requirements and go through its separate approval process ensuring that it will meet all regulatory requirements. In short, this project will fit nicely into all design standards because most of the elements are existing. And the new elements mimic the existing building or surrounding buildings. Sincerely, JD Tea Babcock Design Group
