PROJECT NAME: Gateway at Ten Mile
POLICE DEPARTMENT SUMMARY OF REPORT:
1. Police Response Time-
The proposed Gateway at Ten Mile development application is approximately 3 miles from the Meridian
Police Department. The expected response time to this area in an emergency is about 3 1/2 minutes. The
average emergency response time in the City of Meridian is just under 4 minutes.
Between 4/1/2019- 03/31/2020, the Meridian Police Department responded to 1,847 calls for service
within a mile of the proposed development with a crime count of 260 incidents. See attached documents
for details.
Between 4/1/2019- 03/31/2020, the Meridian Police Department responded to 66 crashes within a mile of
the proposed development. See attached documents for details.
2. Accessibility –
The Meridian Police Department has concerns with the multiple access into the proposed development.
All shared/common driveways shall be signed and maintained to allow for efficient police/fire emergency
response. The applicant can work with the city addressing official for approved signs. All multi-family
apartment buildings shall be marked with addresses and unit numbers that are highly visible day or night.
The applicant shall place a sign at each entrance with a map of the multi-family complex to allow police
and fire to find a particular building quicker in an emergency response.
3. Resource needs
The Meridian Police Department already serves this geographic. As of now no additional resources are
needed at this time.
4. Other comments-
The Meridian Police Department has no outstanding issues concerning this development application.
All qualified open space provided in the development, to include all amenities, must be in an open area in
order to allow for natural observation opportunities. Pathways and landscaping should not create hiding
spots or blind spots that would promote criminal opportunities.
The Meridian Police Department will support all Community Development Staff recommendations,
Traffic Impact Studies from ITD and or ACHD to improve access, roadways, intersections, pathways and
sidewalks before the project if fully completed.
