Last September when the application for adoption of the new Plan was filed, planning staff indicated that the new policies would be prioritized later. This was so that a new Mayor and Council would have the opportunity to establish priorities.Staff is not proposing revisions to text in any part of the Plan, except to add priorities and responsible leads for 380 policies. Since the Plan is still very new, staff felt that it was important to respect the previous process and avoid making other modifications, however minor. The policies summarized in this memorandum and attached in full, represent the collective recommendation from involved Departments. Projects/Policies will vary in scope, with those of higher importance (very-high) already being undertaken in some cases, or actively considered and scoped in other City efforts. In summary, there are 492 policies with 380 of them being Action Items tasked as either ongoing, very high, high, medium or low priority. The other 112 policies are Goals and Objectives providing higher level context for the action items, thus not requiring assignment or priority. 1 At a high level, the following tables depict the spread of policies throughout the document, and how many policies each Department has in each priority period. Of the 380 Action Items, 295 are proposed as Ongoing, or to do regularly, at every opportunity. The following are general time periods for each of the priorities: • Very High= Currently/Immediately; • High= 1 to 3 years; • Medium= 3 to 5 years; • Low= 5 to 10 years; and • Ongoing=regular duties or at every opportunity. The Mayor and Council will have regular opportunities to work with staff on these policies and priorities and to make adjustments. Finally, and as a reminder, the entire Comprehensive Plan including the policies are available on the City of Meridian website in mobile supportive format and also in PDF. The policies, or Implementation, are sortable by topic and can be searched with live results. • Website: https://meridiancily.or /g coMpplan/ Please feel free to reach out to staff if you have any questions regarding the adopted Comprehensive Plan or related Implementation.
