El Tenampa Restaurant – Building Improvement

Dear Planning Staff,
The proposed project is an existing restaurant that is installing a patio for outdoor seating. The project
includes installing new steel fencing, a new exterior door for patio access, and new exterior paint. The
main modification is the addition of the patio, as this will affect the site.
The existing building will be painted to improve exterior appearance. The new door will replace an existing
window, and these elements will maintain the same look as the existing windows. Allowing for employee
and customer access to the patio, this accessible door will have full glazing with a side and a top transom
window. The existing west canopy will be removed.
For site modifications, the patio design be set back to maintain at least 5’-0” for the linear pedestrian clear
zone. The patio will also have two exits, with accessible gates being located on the north and south sides
of the patio. The patio fence will be steel fencing with a pattern similar to the adjacent business to the
north, which currently has an outdoor patio. For allowable encroachments, the patio will include tables,
chairs, and umbrellas.
We hope that the City of Meridian finds this patio design and updated exterior look to be suitable to the
