T raffic B ox Wr aps 2020 A. Belnap informed the commissioners that there is only enough funds in the Traffic Box Wrap budget to do 2 traffic box wraps. She recommended that the Commission reallocate $2,000 from the Arts Development budget to the Traffic Box Wrap budget. The Arts Development budget is typically used for conference attendance, which we know will not be used this year. This reallocation will allow 5 traffic Meridian Arts Commission Meeting Agenda May 14, 2020 – Page 2 of 36 boxes to be wrapped. The Commission agreed to move forward with this plan. B. Zahn Griffith made motion to approve the action, seconded by J. Peters All ayes C. P rocess for S cheduling Artists in Initial Point G aller y B. Zahn Griffith reviewed the process for selecting Initial Point Gallery artists with the commission. M. Tzompa made motion to approve the process, seconded by B. Zahn Griffith All ayes 5.O ld B usiness [Action Item] A. Initial P oint G allery Accessibility: Installations & O pening Receptions on F irst F ridays 2021 B. Zahn Griffith introduced the Initial Point Gallery Subcommittee’s proposal to move the Initial Point Gallery Opening Receptions to the first Friday of every month starting in 2021. Reasons for this change include greater convenience for out of town artists and better public accessibility. All commissioners responded positively and agreed to make the change. 6.Repor ts A. Update: Initial P oint G allery Rescheduling D ue to C O V ID-19 B. Zahn Griffith informed the Commission that the Initial Point Gallery exhibits for April and May were canceled. A. Belnap reported that one artist who was canceled in April was rescheduled to August and the other artists will be rescheduled in 2021. B. Update: C oncerts on B roadway L. Mauldin informed the Commission that the bands booked for Concerts on Broadway are High Street, Kings of Swing, and Diamond Empire Band. A. Belnap informed the Commission that TDS Telecom Fiber, D.L Evans Bank, and Investment Resources of America will be the sponsors for this year’s concert series. C. Update: Via P artnersh ips Report on the P ublic Ar t Q uestionnair e J. Peters summarized the Public Art Questionnaire Report compiled by Meridith McKinley. She reminded the Commission that the next steps for the consultation consist of Meridith doing one-on-one or small group interviews with individuals who would be influential to a public art project. D. Update: P ublic/Private M ural P lan J. Peters informed the Commission that the Public Art Meridian Arts Commission Meeting Agenda May 14, 2020 – Page 3 of 36 Subcommittee thought it would be best to join the FY19 State of the City funds with the Mural Budget Enhancement fund to create a total of around $21,000 to put towards murals in the area. She expressed that this would allow the Arts Commission to fund 2-3 murals without asking for monetary contribution from partnering businesses. 7.Next M eeting: J une 11, 2020 8.Adjournment Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by M.
