Subject:Support for Elisabeth Songe - Frazier Council Review.
Dear City Council,
My name is Godelieve Mulonge and I am writing in support of my friend and colleague
Elisabeth Songe. I understand Elisabeth recently had her childcare permit taken away
because of her neighbor's inaccurate belief she did not follow the rules to start her
childcare.
Like Elisabeth, I am a proud homeowner in Meridian, I arrived to Boise as a refugee from
Democratic of Congo after fleeing from civil war, and I own a small childcare based out of my
home. Elisabeth and I both worked very hard to start our childcares a few years ago in Boise,
and to become responsible savers and community members. Without our childcare income,
even with just a few children, we would not have been able to purchase or afford our homes.
Elisabeth is a hard worker, caring and wants to be a helpful member of the American and
local community. I am very sad that a simple error on her neighbor's part caused her
business to be at risk without any communication by her neighbor.
We are both an integral part of the Meridian economy and provide a critical service to allow
parents to work and not depend on public assistance. I hope you will consider these truths
and make the right decision on Tuesday.
