Commissioner Seal,
Attached is the letter that the City received from West Ada for McKay Farm Subdivision, approved by P&Z on 4/23.
These are the numbers that I used because I noticed the numbers are more up to date than the ones in the letter West
Ada provided for Teakwood Place Subdivision and are for the same school sites.
In addition, I am providing you the link to our active hearing level application map,
https://meridiancity.org/planning/current/application-map
Due to not knowing precisely how far out from the subject site you are looking, I find it best to give you the tool to look
for yourself rather than spending time shooting in the dark and hoping I answer your question.

If you have further questions, please feel free to ask, Sir.

Would it be possible to share the newer reports from West Ada (even though they are not specific to this) as
well as a map of all of the nearby approved or underway developments?
Thank you!

Commissioner Seal,
The letters that Staff is referencing in the staff report pertain to other projects that we recently processed that serve
the same area schools. Those letters provide more up to date enrollment numbers so Staff was being proactive to
provide the Commission with the most accurate data.
Thanks for asking,

To be more specific, I see that the higher numbers are mentioned in the staff report stating that additional
letters were received from West Ada but I do not see the additional letters anywhere. Can those be provided?
Thanks
Andy

I noticed that the school enrollment on the new staff report differs from the West Ada report.
Can you verify the enrollment capacity as well as the enrollment numbers for Sienna Elementary as well as
Victory Middle school?
Thank you.

RE: McKay Farms
File No.: H-2020-0030
Dear Planners:
Joint School District No. 2 (dba West Ada School District) has experienced significant and sustained growth in student
enrollment during the last ten years. Many of our schools throughout the district are operating at or above capacity. Based
on U.S. census data, we can predict that these homes, when completed, will house 34(=# homes x 0.8 per census data)
school aged children. Approval of McKay Farm Subdivision will affect enrollments at the following schools in West Ada
District:
Enrollment Capacity Miles
Dev.to School
Siena Elementary** 970 800 1.8 miles
Victory Middle School 1085 1000 4.7 miles
Mountain View High School 2237 2400 3.9 miles
Enrollment at Hillsdale Elementary is currently capped. Students in this development will be attending Siena Elementary
until a new school is built to eliminate overcrowding at Hillsdale Elementary. **
West Ada School District supports economic growth; however, growth fosters the need for additional school capacity. In
order to meet the need for additional school capacity, West Ada School District will accept the donation of land
appropriate for a school site. Passage of a bond issue will be required prior to the commencement of new school
construction.
New residents cannot be assured of attending the neighborhood school as it may be necessary to bus students to available
classrooms across the district. The safety of our students is our first and foremost priority. With this in mind, we ask that
you encourage the developer to provide safe walkways, bike baths and pedestrian access for our students. School capacity
and transportation is addressed in Idaho Code 67-6508 - future development will continue to have an impact on the
district's capacity.
Si cerely,
Jo Yoch m
Assistant Superintendent—Operations
West Ada School District
