Re: Urban Renewal Plan for the Union District Urban Renewal Project
Dear President May:
The attached document is a letter sent to your agency by USPS on April 24, 2020. For your
convenience, this email includes a link to electronic versions of the documents that were sent to you in paper
form.
Enclosed is a copy of a formal notice that will be published in the Meridian Press on April 24, 2020 and
The Idaho Statesman on May 1, 2020, advising that the Meridian City Council will hold a public hearing at the
Meridian City Hall, 33 E. Broadway Avenue, Meridian, Idaho, on Tuesday, June 2, 2020, at 6:00 p.m., to
consider adoption of the Urban Renewal Plan for the Union District Urban Renewal Project (the “Plan”) of
the Urban Renewal Agency of Meridian, Idaho, also known as Meridian Development Corporation (“MDC”).
At that time the City Council will consider the second reading of an Ordinance adopting the Plan.
In compliance with Idaho Code § 50-2906, this letter serves as notice to you that the Plan contains a
revenue allocation provision and that MDC recommends approval of the Plan. This letter also serves as formal
submission of the Plan for your review and comment under Idaho Code § 40-1415(3). Please provide your written
comments within thirty (30) days.
A copy of the Plan and MDC Resolution No. 20-009 adopted by the MDC Board on Wednesday, March
25, 2020, are enclosed, along with the map and legal description (if you are receiving this letter via email, copies
of all of the referenced documents can be located at https://bit.ly/UnionDistrict). A copy of the Plan is available
at City Hall and on MDC’s website (meridiandevelopmentcorp.com) for your review. You are encouraged to
provide your comments, either in writing or at the public hearing.
In the event you would like to schedule a separate meeting to discuss the Plan, representatives of the City will
make themselves available to explain the Plan.
Sincerely,
Chris Johnson
