2020-04-17 Martin Schindler To City Clerk, April 16, 2020 Cc : David Miles, Mayor Simpson and City Council Subject: UNION DISTRICT URBAN Renewal, proposed project Within 2002 URD. Based on the City Planners memo provided 4/8/20, in the memo produced supporting and its analysis supporting establishing an Urban Renewal District Plan for the Union Block and its sister project union 93 to be consistent in the best interest of the City and its stakeholders Understanding the downtown urban renewal district formed in 2002 expiring in the year of 2026, the plan is nearing the end of its relevancy in much aspect of today’s society and its new property owner surrounding the proposed. I support a new and revised urban renewal district, focused on infrastructure (parking requirements that meet the needs within the modern day city core ( Old Town) and its stakeholders, utilities, etc, with no caps on it density, assuming private and public parking are all-inclusive. To include, all subjective current (TIF) money available. With that stated, I’d like to see this implemented in a like manner as the ten mile district was conceived and which included, roads, utilities, without marketing etc. and other unnecessary measures created final draft and conveyed to MDC. Zoning commissioners, please pass tonight to ensure City Councils turn around in the coming months. With respect, Martin Schindler City of Meridian resident and downtown property owner
