20-2203 1st Continuace of Local Distaster Emergency Declaration for additional 30 days ADA COUNTY RECORDER Phil McGrane 2020-044777 BOISE IDAHO Pgs=2 BONNIE OBERBILLIG 04/17/2020 12:40 PM CITY OF MERIDIAN, IDAHO NO FEE RESOLUTION NO. 20-2203 BY THE COUNCIL: BERNT, BORTON, CAVENER, HOAGLUN, PERREAULT, STRADER A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CONTINUANCE OF A LOCAL DISASTER EMERGENCY DECLARATION AND ITS TERMS FOR AN ADDITIONAL THIRTY (30) DAYS; AUTHORIZING THE CONTINUED IMMEDIATE EXPENDITURE OF PUBLIC MONEY TO SAFEGUARD LIFE, HEALTH AND PROPERTY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19)pandemic continues to represent an imminent threat to the life, health, and property of the City of Meridian and its citizens; and WHEREAS, a local disaster emergency, as defined in Section 46-1002, Idaho Code, continues to be in existence in the City of Meridian due to the imminent threat to life and property; and WHEREAS, pursuant to the authority granted the Mayor of the City of Meridian in Section 46- 1011, Idaho Code, the Mayor of the City of Meridian, on March 16, 2020, declared a local disaster emergency; and WHEREAS, on March 17, 2020 the City Council of the City of Meridian passed Resolution 20- 2195 authorizing the continuance of the local disaster emergency declaration for a period of thirty (30) days, expiring on April 16, 2020; and WHEREAS, it is deemed necessary by the Council of the City of Meridian to extend such local disaster emergency declaration for an additional thirty (30) days to provide for the ongoing response to the COVID-19 pandemic; and WHEREAS, Section 67-2808, Idaho Code, authorizes the Council of the City of Meridian to declare an emergency authorizing the immediate expenditure of public money to safeguard life, health or property; and WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Meridian deems it necessary for the health and safety of the citizens of the City of Meridian to continue the authorization for the immediate expenditure of public money to safeguard life, health and property; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MERIDIAN, IDAHO: Section 1. That the Declaration of Local Disaster Emergency pursuant to Resolution 20-2195 shall remain in effect for an additional period of thirty (30) days from the effective date of this Resolution unless terminated, modified or unless extended for thirty (30) day increments. Section 3. That a copy of this resolution shall be promptly filed with the Ada County Recorder. Section 4. That this Resolution shall be effective on April 17, 2020.
