Broadway Meridian, ID 83642 Re: Calvary Chapel Meridian —Design Review and Certificate of Zoning Compliance This project concerns new construction of a church facility in the MCNelis Subdivision located near Ten Mile and Ustick. We will address each item below as it might relate to this building: 1. Color and Materials —The building material will be wood frame construction with stucco and metal panel finishes. The materials being used to add articulation to the building facade include varying colors, reveal layouts and wood accent panels. 2. Site Plan and Building Layout: a. Building Location — will be on the northeast portion of the site. b. Parking areas —Parking areas are laid out on the south portion of the site c. Street Layout and Internal Circulation — The parking circulation ties into MCNelis Ave at the southeast corner of the site. Pedestrian access follows alongside the drive aisle, with additional pedestrian access through the parking to connect to the building entrance. There is also a proposed walking path around the perimeter of the site. 3. Lighting —The exterior of the building will be illuminated by several wall packs along the primary facades to enhance the visual interest of the building. Parking lot lighting is also provided throughout the parking areas for safe pedestrian access through the site. 4. Cohesive Design —The building fits into the surrounding industrial area with the use of more traditionally industrial materials (metal and stucco), while having a unique presence in the layout of these materials and the building massing. 725 E. 2d Street Meridian, ID 83642 • 208.884.284 • Fax: 208.287.8166 www.neUdesignARCH.com 5680 E. Applies to facades in developments: along arterial and collector roadways, adjacent to residential developments facing roadways, facing public entries of adjacent buildings, and visible from public spaces. Incorporate at least one type of the following modulations in the facade plane, including but not limited to projections, recesses, and step backs that articulate wall planes and break up building mass. Examples include but are not limited to columns with trim or accent materials, change in finished material depths, building overhangs, and inset features and materials such as false windows or fenestration with architectural accents. Qualifying modulation must be at least 6-inches in depth, beat least 8-inches in width or height (whichever is narrowest), and occur in total for 20% of overall facade elevation. For buildings with facades less than 150-feet, horizontal modulation must occur no less than every 30-feet. For buildings with facades greater than or equal to 150-feet, horizontal modulation must occur no less than every 50-feet. Incorporate visual and physical distinctions in the building design that enhance building forms, articulate facades, identify entries, integrate pedestrian scale, and visually anchor the building to the ground or street level. Applies to building facades visible from a public street or public space, and to facades with public entries. For at least 30% of applicable facades use any combination of concrete, masonry, stone, or unique variation of color, texture, or material, at least 10-inches in height, around the base of the building. May alternatively incorporate other architectural features such as ledges, facade reveals, ground level fenestra- i tion, raised planters, or landscaping elements within 3-feet of ', finished grade. Where building designs incorporate multiple stories, or multiple floor height equivalents, integrate at least one field or accent color, material, or architectural feature used on lower stories, on the upper stories.
