Re: File #VAC H-2019-0127
To Whom It May Concern:
Homeowners along Mustang Drive in Meridian have received notice of the Andorra Senior Living
Sawtooth Development being proposed to the east of their properties. They and other property owners
nearby have attended a presentation and have communicated with developers of the project. As one
such property owner, I am grateful that the project is characterized by the following and therefore am
writing in support of it:
1. The community demonstrates uncommon concern for preserving environmental features by
incorporating Five Mile Creek, a protected stream, within the plan.
2. Preserving this stream and including pathways and other features results in much more than 20%
green or open space, well beyond that currently mandated.
3. The buildings themselves are one-story construction, with the exception of a multi-story community
building which has been placed in the southeast corner of the property near other buildings of that
height and away from homes whose views would otherwise be obscured.
4. This space for senior living represents a piece in an overall arrangement of diverse choices of age,
lifestyle, affordability, lot size, and accessibility: it would contribute to a group of three separate
neighborhoods which buffer one another environmentally and provide for middle-income small
urbanized properties, older more rural acreages, and its own senior residents.
5. It does not add traffic to adjoining quiet neighborhoods since it draws access more directly from and
to Eagle Road.
This project expresses awareness and respect for environmental and social impacts upon existing
surroundings and integrates with and complements them rather than obstructing or uprooting the
varying lifestyles represented there. It is family friendly in the broadest sense.
