Dear Sirs,
I am very much in favor of the Conditional Use Permit for the 100-foot height exception as
proposed by Galena Fund on the Meridian Station Project as described in File Number CUP H-
2019-0142. This is a very positive investment for Meridian and we should approve the Condition
Permit to allow an additional 100’ in height.
I have been involved with the City of Meridian with my former employer, Micro 100, over the last
20 years. The City, MDC, business community, and arts community have been pursuing options to
revitalize the Downtown Core that will maintain the family-friendly environment of the City of
Meridian for a long time. The momentum has been slowly building and we are finally. seeing all
those efforts begin to materialize in great projects for the downtown core that complement the
long-term vision that had its first piece in the construction of the present City Hall Building.
The Meridian Station project provides a very pleasant anchor to the southeast end of our
downtown district and, structurally, will be very complementary to the City Hall and our Old Town
Lofts project. The developer has gone out of their way to provide additional parking beyond the
requirement to partner with the City needs and being on the south end, will mitigate some of the
traffic pressure on the downtown core, (although there will likely be the need to provide an
additional north-bound lane on Main Street from E King Street to E Broadway Ave). This will
increase walking traffic for our downtown businesses enhancing the Downtown core and still
maintain the family-friendly environment, with its great access to Centennial and Storey Parks
and other amenities. Also, I believe that eventually we will have some public transportation
solution along the rail core, which will be very convenient to the residents of both the Meridian
Station and the Old Town Lofts.
Respectfully,
