EXHIBIT A
Scope of Work
Meridian, Idaho Public Art Survey and Work Session
Task 1: Community Survey
An online survey is a useful tool to take the pulse of the community’s aspirations and goals for public
art. A survey can provide feedback that is easily analyzed, and build a database of supporters who you
can keep in touch with as Meridian builds its Art in Public Spaces program. For the online survey we
will use a commercially available survey program (SurveyGizmo) to analyze quantitative data and use
our own approaches to keyword analysis to analyze open-ended questions.
Activities:
• Work with City staff and Arts Commissioners to set goals for participation in the survey, to set a
deadline for responding, and to strategize about getting the word out.
• Develop the survey questions, including:
o Reviewing relevant planning documents that may help reveal important questions to
include in the survey.
o Having an initial conversation with City staff and Arts Commissioners regarding
questions and possible answers.
o Drafting the survey and reviewing the questions with City staff.
o “Beta testing” the survey with Arts Commissioners and City staff.
• Regularly monitor the survey responses and report response rate to City staff.
• Develop a survey report that includes an analysis of the responses and a synthesis of what the
responses could point to in terms of recommendations.
Task 2: Visioning Work Session
A half-day work session with the commissioners can be a useful way to develop an agreed upon vision
and goals for the Art in Public Spaces program, to identify potential project opportunities and other
strategies to meet that vision and goals, and to identify challenges or friction points regarding
implementation that may require further work by Arts Commissioners and City staff.
Activities:
• Talk with City staff and Arts Commissioners about desired outcomes for the work session.
• Develop agenda and format for work session.
• Review relevant planning documents, policies and guidelines for the Art in Public Spaces
program.
• Tour Meridian (with staff and/or a representative from the Arts Commission) to see existing
public art and areas of interest.
• Facilitate a half-day session with commissioners.
• Conduct additional one-on-one interviews with key stakeholders (elected officials, City staff,
potential community partners) (up to 5).
• Write up report documenting outcomes of the work session and interviews, and recommendations
for next steps.

A disc ussion to review current po lic y and dis c us s updating/amend ing the current p o lic y regard ing artwork pric es
on labels in Initial P o int G allery has been reques ted.
B oard Notes:
A point to keep in mind when discussing prices on art work is how it may affect competitive selection
of artists chosen to display in I nitial P oint G allery. A brief review of the procedure f or selected artists
to display in I nitial P oint Gallery may be prudent, since if there could be a requirement in the future f or
artists to apply and go through a selection process, this could pose a conf lict with how we present
artist's work f or sale in the gallery as well.
