RE: Final 2017 monitor report for Century Commercial property
I have completed data collection for the irrigation season on the Century
Commercial parcel located just south of Amity Road and north of Century Farm
Development. A copy of collected measurements is attached along with a map
showing all piezometer locations are attached.
Ten test pits were placed in late September of 2016 by MTI. Late season
measurements were collected in the piezometers on October 11th and 22nd to
secure baseline values. A comparison of the October 11, 2016 data to the levels
recorded on October 9th shows that current levels are 10 to 17 inches higher than
last year. Peak levels are 13 to 27 inches higher than the September 25th values
last fall.
As observed in the data from the Century Farm project to the south, peaks
occurred late in the season. This supports the assumption that levels on the
commercial site are also due to offsite influences from the surrounding area.
There is still a considerable amount of irrigated cropland to the north, east and
west of this property. It is my opinion that the irrigation impacts are less
important than the up -gradient natural infiltration into the shallow aquifer.
The peaks observed are likely on the high end of the range expected from year to
year. Abnormally high precipitation amounts last winter have likely had an
influence on not only peak levels, but also the later timing of those levels. These
high groundwater peaks should be conservative values if used for design
purposes.

There is a significant variation in the topography from east to west on the parcel.
Most of the property to the east is at a higher elevation than the southwest
portion. On those higher landscape positions the groundwater is deeper than 10
feet below ground level while in the lower positions levels are measured at 6 to 7
feet deep. When these measurements are converted to groundwater elevation,
the level will likely be uniform across the parcel.
