July 25, 2019 Regular Meeting Minutes Moved by Evarts, Seconded by Ault to Approve Minutes 4. Approval of the Monthly Financial Statement A. Financial Statement through July 31, 2019 [Action Item] Moved by Evarts, Seconded by Cronk to Approve the Financial Statement 5. Historical Society and History Center Update by Lila Hill Lila Hill provided an update. City Hall has been quiet and the History Center has not had a lot of traffic. Jody is working on inventory, Robbie and Carol have finished 1940 Census work on local families, and are waiting on 1950 census data. David and Betsy are indexing. Linda has been filling in on a lot of positions. Hillary and Lila are continuing to work on the Atlas. A history book was dropped with a lot of photos of a family traveling to relocate to Meridian 6. New Business [Action Item] A. City Strategic Plan Objective 1.C.3:Open Spaces Cameron Arial presented information related to strategic plan initiatives/objectives. Commission provided feedback. B. Walking Tour Brochures Moved by Evarts and Seconded by Cronk to allocate $2500 to order $1,000 additional Walking Tour brochures C. FORUM 2020 in Tacoma, WA Continued to September 26, 2019 7. Old Business [Action Items] A. Historical Society Collections Work Jody discussed her progress on itemizing and organizing cabinets of historic records. She plans to continLWWbrkiniyOa per and plans to discuss in further detail at the September meeting. Lila stated that she has smaller paper. Blaine asked about cabinet storage space. Jody will present a list of what is needed at the September meeting. B. Pine Street School Signage 1. Banner Design Approval 2. Banner Printing Expense Consideration Hillary had not received the quote yet. She sent designs to Carol Stanley. Hillary presented two versions of the Pine Street School sign. Commission chose Option B. Motion by Evarts, Seconded by Lusignan. C. Logo Discussion 1. Logo Design was agreed upon at last meeting was Logo #2 but the colors had not been agreed upon. Do you want to create another version that integrates the city colors. Josh said it was designed as a one color inverted type of design. Josh said he would be happy to bring some different versions with color to the next meeting. D. Discuss and Establish Working Committees 1. Create working committee and work outside the realm of our normal meeting to look at education, city initiative relations, etc., and bring those back to commission on a monthly basis. Blaine Johnston presented a few ideas and reminded the Board if they do meet, the meetings will need to be noticed by Hillary. Bill Nary advised that you can grow your commission as all commissions can be up to 9 individuals and include a Youth member to be able to cover committees. Bill Nary mentioned that with these two sub -committees that when the meet it would be a "Special Meeting" Jodi and Donna will be with the Education Sub -Committee; then Donna, Jacy and Josh will be with outside relationships Sub - Committee. Josh Everts Moved to create two working Sub -Committees as part of the Historic Preservation Commission. An Education Committee and an External Initiatives and Relations Committee. Second by Jody Ault. All Ayes E. Historic Preservation Plan Current Plan was created in 2014, part of our tasks is to updated this plan. There are some changes that we need to address. Goals have not changed much. State Register needs updated. Hillary said the task two years ago to update the properties in Meridian was never completed. Blaine asked if it would be better for me or for you, Hillary to contact Shippo? Blaine asked if Hillary can contact Shippo and see if Pete can come talk to HPC as this is part of our Preservation Plan. 8. Reports A. Drafted Comprehensive Plan Input & Next Steps Hillary has been attending the meetings to keep HPC informed as to what is going on. Brandon has the 360 shots done and is waiting on Hillary and Drew to complete the narrative. C. County Treasure Award HPC accepted your nominations via email. Hillary heard from Brent that Pine Street School was selected as the County Treasurer. D. Dr. Frank Thomason Making History Award Ceremony Hillary and Lila Attended and I have included the Brochure in your packet. E. Current Applications 1. No current applications to review 9.
