Subject: Comments on the Devco Delano Subdivision Development
Dear City of Meridian officials:
We have been notified again of a Public Hearing on September 17, 2019
by the City Council of the City of Meridian which will address a request
by Devco Development, LLC for their proposed Delano Subdivision
development which is immediately south of Alpine Pointe subdivision.
We are residents of Alpine Pointe and I was in attendance at the Meridian
Planning and Zoning Commission meeting held on July 18, 2019 during
which the Devco plan was submitted for approval. After a great deal of
testimony the Commission voted to recommend denial of their request
and suggested that Devco work with the Alpine Pointe Neighborhood
Outreach Committee and the Alpine Pointe HOA to address the concerns
that were presented at that meeting. To my knowledge no coordination
has been conducted to address these concerns. It also appears that there
have been no changes to the plans being submitted by the developer. We
continue to oppose this development as submitted and provide our
concerns which are still as follows:
1. The subdivision appears to be proposed for development before the
appropriate infrastructure is in place to support it. The current plans
are to make the Dashwood stub road the sole access to 85 densely
packed single family homes which will have an immediate
negative impact on the traffic load by our homes.
2. The transition from the Alpine Pointe density directly to R-15
seems wrong when some form of lower density transition would
seem much more appropriate.
