CORPORATION.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MERIDIAN, IDAHO:
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of Meridian to enter into a
first addendum to provide for a recycling program and rate within the City of
Meridian with SANITARY SERVICE, INc., an Idaho Corporation, denoted as
"FIRST ADDENDUM TO "FRANCHISE AGREEMENT TO PERFORM SOLID
WASTE COLLECTION AND DISPOSAL SERVICES" FOR SANITARY SERVICE,
INc. TO PROVIDE FOR THE ADDITION OF A RECYCLING PROGRAM AND
AMENDING PROVISIONS REFERENCING CPI INDEX", dated the Iq~ day
of ~-/env'~ , 2000, a copy of which is attached hereto marked as Exhibit "A" to
this Resolution, the reasons and authority for which are as set forth in said First
Addendum.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COUNCIL as follows:

The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to enter into on

THE ADDITION OF NEW RATE RESOLUTION
behalf of the City of Meridian that certain First Addendum to provide for a recycling
program and rate within the City of Meridian with SANITARY SERVICE, INc., an
Idaho Corporation, entitled "FIRST ADDENDUM TO "FRANCHISE
AGREEMENT TO PERFORM SOLID WASTE COLLECTION AND DISPOSAL
SERVICES" FOR SANITARY SERVICE, INc. TO PROVIDE FOR THE
ADDITION OF A RECYCLING PROGRAM AND AMENDING PROVISIONS
REFERENCING CPI INDEX", dated the 19~ dayofcß¡;rk~~, 2000, a .
copy of which is attached hereto marked as Exhibit "A" to this Resolution and to
bind this City to its terms and conditions.

THE ADDITION OF NEW RATE RESOLUTION

FIRST ADDENDUM TO "FRANCHISE AGREEMENT
TO PERFORM SOLID WASTE COLLECTION AND
DISPOSAL SERVICES" FOR SANITARY SERVICE, INc.
TO PROVIDE FOR THE ADDITION OF A RECYCLING PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the City of Meridian desires to add a recycling program to the present solid waste
collection and disposal service agreement for Meridian City; and
WHEREAS, the present landfill is being used to capacity with materials which could be
recycled through a City wide recycling program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Meridian recognizes that it is in need of a household hazardous waste
collection program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Meridian also recognizes that Sanitary Service, Inc. is ready, willing
and able to implement a recycling program for the City, and to sponsor a monthly household
hazardous waste collection.
NOW, THEREFORE, the parties agree that:

On or before October 2, 2000, Sanitary Service, Inc. will furnish each residential
customer in the City of Meridian with an 18 gallon recycling bin, and furnish
educational materials explaining the program.
The following materials are the only recyclable materials that will be accepted:

Plastics (Milk jugs, PET, Pop bottles)
Mixed Paper (Junk mail, envelopes, cereal boxes)
Cans (tin and aluminum)
Magazines and catalogs (Glossy)
Newspapers including inserts
Corrugated cardboard (maximum 2 foot diameter and bundled)
Each residential customer will be charged an additional $2.10 per month, which charge
is in addition to the regular monthly solid waste collection charges.

Sanitary Service, Inc. will conduct and publicize a monthly household hazardous waste
collection event in the City of Meridian. This collection will begin when the recycling
program begins.
Sanitary Service, Inc. will sell the collected recyclable materials and use the proceeds to
pay the cost of the household hazardous waste collection program. Any remaining
proceeds will be paid to the City of Meridian for such uses as may be determined by
the Mayor and Council. Payment of these proceeds will be paid quarterly and within
sixty (60) days after the end of each quarter.

Agreement To Perform Solid Waste Collection and Disposal Services."
