Subject: Delano Subdivision (H-2019-0027)
To the Honorable Tammy de Weerd, Mayor, and To the Members of the Meridian City Council,
My husband and I have lived in Alpine Point for the past eight years. We love that this is a quiet well-maintained
subdivision. We understand the growth of the valley and having to build more housing and apartment buildings.
What we are opposed to is to route all Delano traffic via Wainwright and Dashwood bringing in 1000 extra vehicle trips
into our subdivision. These cars will also drive all through our subdivision to exit onto McMillan Road. This will destroy
our neighborhood and our quality of life! Not to mention putting our children, grandchildren, walkers, pets and bicyclists
at greater risk.
The best option would be to route all the Delano traffic through Jasmine Lane out to Eagle Road or through N.
Centerpointe Way and onto Ustick Road. Even routing this traffic through Centerpointe Way will not meet the
acceptable ACHD traffic count thresholds for Centerpointe Way.
Right now, traffic already stacks up at the light on Wainwright and Eagle Road and there is not enough room for very
many (more than 6) cars to wait. It's already a mess even without the added Delano traffic. There have been many
accidents at this intersection.
We are asking that you deny, defer or have this plan modified since the developer has not worked with our subdivision
about our valid concerns with the traffic through our subdivision and also the density of homes in this proposal.
Thank you for your consideration of these concerns and our quality of life.
Sincerely,
David and Brenda Ashworth
