Dear Honorable Mayor & City Council:
We recently attended the city council meeting, along with a large
contingent of our Alpine Pointe neighbors, on 8/20/19. The developer
of the proposed Delano subdivision was a NO SHOW. It’s the general
consensus that he is trying to wear us concerned neighbors down by
these games he’s playing. Instead of working with the Alpine Pointe
HOA concerning the density of the dwellings and the traffic problems
this will cause to our neighborhood, as well as the whole Eagle/Ustick
area, it’s obvious to all he is determined to ignore us - PLUS THE
PLANNING & ZONING RECOMMENDATIONS - and slap up as many
dwellings as possible and funnel the traffic through Alpine Pointe. You
yourself Madam Mayor mentioned at the August 20 City Council
meeting how important it is for neighborhoods to work together for the
benefit of the community.
We are the largest homeowners with approximately 210’ that will be
bordering this proposed development. In Exhibit H of the Delano plan
we would border 5+ dwellings and our sight-line would be 8
dwellings! We knew when we purchased our property 9+ years ago and
invested a great deal of money in our home and lot, that there would
probably be development behind us someday but we are asking you,
Madam Mayor and City Council, that it be a development that respects
the integrity of the R-4 Alpine Pointe lots and transitions to a R-6 or R-8
development. Also, at the Planning and Zoning meeting the developer
stated that he had contacted each of the homeowners bordering this
new development numerous times. This is a lie! We were contacted by
Laren Bailey of Devco Real Estate Development in April 2018 with the
initial plans for that development but have NEVER been contacted since
by this developer. We travel occasionally but always have our mail
forwarded, and we are fully accessible by text and phone calls. We
believe this developer is trying to pull a fast one on the City of Meridian
and the AlpIne Point community to line his own pocket. He shows no
desire nor interest in working with Alpine Pointe HOA to develop a
subdivision that enhances the whole area, not becomes tomorrow’s
eyesore.
Please consider the modifications our HOA is proposing for intelligent
growth in the development of the acreage.
