Dear Glen & Kris:
The fence committee of the City of Meridian met in Kris' presence at 4:45 p.m.,
September 23, 1997 in City Hall to consider this request.
After due consideration, the committee decided to allow encroachment of your six (6)
foot tall wooden fence into the side street setback area. The fence you have constructed
along the edge of the sidewalk will need to be moved into your lot to a location ten
(10) feet from the edge of the sidewalk. Or, you may leave the fence where it is by
reducing its height to three (3) feet.
If you decide to maintain a six (6) foot tall fence and move it to the requested location,
you will need to landscape and maintain the area between it and the sidewalk.
Please obtain a fence building permit from the City Building Department prior to
beginning the modifications. If you have any questions, please call.

To whom it may concern:
We are writing you today in regards to the address of 696 N Ti4well. We have recently been
notified of a problem with the fence on this property. It is our understanding that the fence is not
within city code, because of the distance from the fence to theßtreet. As neighbors and
Association members, we do not feel this fence to be an obstruction in our area. Because of the
comer lot this house sits on, it is almost impossible to place this fence 15 feet from the street and
still have a back yard. The way the fence sits, allows for complete view from all angles of both
the street and side walk. We would like to petition the moving offence. Ifwe can do anything
as an association or member of the neighborhood, pù¡ase let us know.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN pursuant to 11-9-605 J- 10. of the Revised and
Compiled Ordinances of the City of Meridian, that the Fence Variance Committee of the
City of Meridian will hold a public hearing at the Meridian City Hall, 33 East Idaho Street,
Meridian, Idaho, at the hour of 4:45 o'clock E.M., on Mondav. September 22. 1997, for
the purpose of reviewing and considering the Application of Glen and Kris Fairchild for
a variance from the Meridií:1n Fence Ordinance at the property legally described as follows:
Lot 11. Block 5 MefTVlM)od No.2 Subdivision and known by the address 696 N. Tidwell.
Meridian. Idaho 83642. The Applicant proposed to reduce the reQuired distance from 20
feet to 0 feet.
The public is welcome. Testimony, objections, and comments will be heard and
considered by the Committee.
A v.ritten decision of the Committee will be issued to the Applicant and any person
requesting in writing a copy of the decision will be furnished one.
Any aggrieved party may appeal the decision of the Committee directly to the
