Tidwell Dear Glen & Kris: The fence committee of the City of Meridian met in Kris' presence at 4:45 p.m., September 23, 1997 in City Hall to consider this request. After due consideration, the committee decided to allow encroachment of your six (6) foot tall wooden fence into the side street setback area. The fence you have constructed along the edge of the sidewalk will need to be moved into your lot to a location ten (10) feet from the edge of the sidewalk. Or, you may leave the fence where it is by reducing its height to three (3) feet. If you decide to maintain a six (6) foot tall fence and move it to the requested location, you will need to landscape and maintain the area between it and the sidewalk. We have recently been notified of a problem with the fence on this property. It is our understanding that the fence is not within city code, because of the distance from the fence to theßtreet. As neighbors and Association members, we do not feel this fence to be an obstruction in our area. Because of the comer lot this house sits on, it is almost impossible to place this fence 15 feet from the street and still have a back yard. The way the fence sits, allows for complete view from all angles of both the street and side walk. We would like to petition the moving offence.
