BY THE CITY COUNCIL: BERNT, BORTON, CAVENER,
LITTLE ROBERTS, MILAM, PALMER
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING MERIDIAN CITY CODE SECTION 7-2-8, REGARDING
ENFORCEMENT OF PROVISIONS RELATED TO PARKING IN FIRE LANE,
ADOPTING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the duties of Community Service Officers include enforcement of Meridian
City parking codes and the issuance of warnings or citations for parking offenses; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Meridian finds that it is in the best interest
of the health, safety, and welfare of the people of Meridian to authorize Community Service
Officers to enforce parking codes;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF MERIDIAN, IDAHO:
Section 1. That Meridian City Code section 7-2-8 shall be amended to read as follows:
Except in compliance with law or the direction of a police officer or firefighter, no person shall
park a vehicle in any fire apparatus access road in violation of International Fire Code, 2015
edition, section 503.4, or like provision subsequently adopted, where such fire apparatus access
road is marked in accordance with International Fire Code, 2015 edition, sections 503.3 and
D103.6, or like provisions subsequently adopted. The Fire Code official, and/or his designee,
including police officers, and Code Enforcement Officers, and Community Service Officers of
the Meridian Police Department, shall be authorized to enter upon private property open to
public use to investigate and enforce violations of this section.
Section 2. That all ordinances, resolutions, orders, or parts thereof or in conflict with this
ordinance are hereby voided.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its passage and
publication.
