Private Street Approval (PS-13-003)
Dear Mr. Crawford
This letter is to confirm that the Director tentatively approved your private street application for the subject property
Per UDC 11-3F-4, the private street shall not connect to an arterial street (i.e. Eagle Road/SH 55); however, a
driveway connection from the private street to the afterial street is allowed.
In accord with UDC 1 I -3F-3B, the applicant or owner shall have one year to complete the following tasks:
a. Obtain approval from the Ada County street name committee for a private street name(s);
b. Contact the tlarrsportation authority (ACHD) to install an approved street name sign that complies with the
regulations of the Ada County uniform street name ordinance;
c. Create a perpetual ingress/egress easement or a single platted lot for tlre private street to all applicable
properties; and
d. The applicant or owner shall provide documentation of a binding contract that establishes the party or parties
responsible for the repair and maintenance of the private street, including regulations for the funding tl-rereof.
Upon completion of the items noted above, the Director will issue a letter stating that the private street has been
approved. No building pennit will be issued for any structure using a private street for access to a pubiic street until
the private street has been approved. If you should have any further questior-rs regarding this matter, please don't

Narrative Fully Describing the Proposed Request
It is proposed to rename the 2 main private streets within The Village at Meridian. The current
street names that were utilized during construction were simply addresses established based
on the existing roads around the perimeter of the project for the purpose of allowing
permits to
be issued. Now that we are in the home stretch before opening later this year, we would like to
identify the streets within the project to reflect positively on the shopping center and the city of
Meridian. One of the signature elements that we will be introducing to the community when
the project opens this Fall is a collection of amazing bronze art sculptures on reading and
imagination, with butterflies as the key element in each piece. With these being permanent
works of art that will forever be a part of the center, we thought Butterflies could be the theme
of the street names and found that both Monarchs and Longwing butterflies are indigenous to
ldaho. Therefore, we are proposing to name the 2 streets Monarch Sky and Longwing.
