Commissioner Nelson made a motion to approve the agenda as corrected. Motion seconded by Commissioner Neal. All ayes, motions carried. 4. Approval of Minutes: December 4349, 2018 Commissioner Nelson made a motion to approve the minutes as presented. Motion seconded by Commissioner Walters. All ayes, motions carried. 5. Action Items: A. Old Business: 1. Trash or Treasure — Council Update — Commissioner Cory Trash to Treasure event approved by City Council to go citywide in 2019. Communication efforts will be coordinated through the subcommittee and City staffers (Shandy with Public Works, Kaycee with Mayor's office). The subcommittee with be providing updates as planning and prep continues. It was noted that the legal department will be drafting an ordinance change to allow material to remain on the curb for more than 24 hours during this annual event. 2. Solid Waste Roles and Responsibilities — Council Update — Dave Miles Council has approved the changes to SWAC. They did have questions in regards to the process we took to determine these changes. Are the commissioners comfortable with the proposed changes? Effective 1/25/2019. Legal, Billing Manager, Public Works seats will no longer be delegated seats. Current make up of commissioner seats including the vacancy from Ms. Caldwell are within compliance of changes. No further action needed by SWAC at this time. 3. Sidewalk Container Placement Update — Council Update — Dave Miles Proposed ordinance change approved by City Council. Dave Miles will be working with Shandy Lam for visual material and customer outreach. Commissioner Nelson made a motion to proceed with the ordinance change to update the cart placement, while holding off on communication efforts until after the Trash to Treasure 2019 to reduce public confusion. Motion seconded by Commissioner Walters. All ayes, motions carried. B. New Business: 1. Selection of Commission Officers Chair: Commissioner Nelson made a motion to nominate Commissioner Cory. Motion seconded by Commissioner Walters. All ayes, motion carried. Vice Chair: Commissioner Nelson made a motion to nominate Commissioner Walters. Motion seconded by Commissioner Neal. All ayes, motion carried. Secretary: no motion made. Public Works department will be providing the staff support for the commission in this capacity as part of their support role(s) Commissioner Nelson expressed his desire to continue as the HHW representative. 2. Setting of 2019 Regular Meeting Schedule Commissioner Walters made a motion to continue with the current meeting schedule of the 411 Wednesday of each month at 4:00p.m. Motion seconded by Commissioner Nelson. All ayes, motion carried. 6. Next Meeting: Confirm February 20, 2019 Per the meeting schedule just approved the corrected date for the next meeting will be February 27, 2019 Republic Services provided information regarding a new Albertson location that is interested in glass recycling. Glass recycling program in Meridian currently is for residential customers only. Republic Services to put together a commercial program for consideration by the commission at the February meeting. 7.
