Progress Avenue Meridian, ID 83642 BRS Project No. 18064 Dear Sir/Madam: August 10, 2018 This letter is to introduce you to our proposed project to remodel the existing building at the corner of S Progress Avenue and E Central Drive for the new location of the Children's Museum of Idaho. The Children's Museum of Idaho's vision is "to inspire and nurture future explorers, innovators, and critical thinkers through interactive play in a safe, engaging environment with hands-on exhibits and programs designed specifically for children ages two to eight". The remodel will include minor changes to the exterior of the building, add two outdoor play areas, and update the existing landscaping on the rear side of the site. The new monochromatic gray color scheme will create a more modern look to the existing building. This color scheme will also allow the outdoor play areas to become highlighted features. The existing patio has been retained and repurposed for an outdoor play area / exhibit for the children. The addition of glass to the upper portion of the patio area provides transparency and sightlines to and from the new outdoor exhibit area. The addition of an aluminum storefront door and sidelight to the rear of the building will connect the indoor space to a new fenced in play area for the children. The open picket fence around this area provides an additional safe space for the children to play in, with connection to the main portion of the building. There are several updates to the existing site and landscaping. The parking lot has been modified to allow for the new fenced in play area. Eight parking spaces have been removed and two new landscape planters have been added to the outside of the fenced in area to accommodate future landscaping. Two new parking spaces for buses have also been added at the rear of the building. Emerald Green Arborvitae and Orange Rocket Barberry Shrubs will replace the existing dead landscaping on the site. Pedestrian walkways have been maintained and reused for the Children's Museum. A bike rack accommodating 4 bikes has been added to the left of the main entrance.
