BY THE CITY COUNCIL: BERNT, BORTON, CAVENER,
MILAM, PALMER, LITTLE-ROBERTS
A RESOLUTION APPROVING REPUBLIC SERVICES TO OFFER AN OPTIONAL
SUBSCRIPTION GLASS RECYCLING COLLECTION SERVICE FOR RESIDENTIAL AND
COMMERCIAL ACCOUNT HOLDERS WITHIN THE CITY OF MERIDIAN; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City's solid waste management franchisee, Republic Services, having come
before the Solid Waste Advisory Commission (SWAC) on May 23, 2018 to present its proposal to offer
a subscription glass recycling program in the City of Meridian; and
WHEREAS, SWAC, upon its review and discussion of the proposed subscription residential and
commercial glass recycling program, voted favorably upon it, recommending Republic Services proceed
to City Council for further review and discussion.
WHEREAS, Republic Services appeared before the Mayor and Council on the 5th day of June,
2018, to present its proposal for instituting an optional subscription glass recycling collection service for
residential and commercial account holders within the City of Meridian; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council believe there is interest amongst Meridian citizens to
participate in glass recycling if a program were to be made available; and
WHEREAS, Republic Services will exclusively manage the optional subscription glass
recycling collection service for residential and commercial account holders within the City of Meridian;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF MERIDIAN, IDAHO:
Section 1. That Republic Services shall proceed forthwith to offer an optional subscription glass
recycling collection service for residential and commercial account holders within the City of Meridian.
Section 2. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its adoption
and approval.
