RE: H-2018-0017: WELLS SUBDIVISION
Dear Mr. Beach,
The Ada County Historic Preservation Council (ACHPC) heard at their May 1, 2018 meeting a request
from Matt Schultz regarding the proposed Wells Subdivision located on the north side of E. Amity
Road approximately a ½ mile east of S. Locust Grove Road. The subject property contains the
historic Harry Warrick barn, which is listed on the Ada County Historic Site Inventory. The barn
was constructed in 1923.
The developer is planning on demolishing the barn to make way for Wells Subdivision. Mr. Schultz
spoke to the ACHPC and proposed a way to honor and memorialize the barn’s legacy. The proposal
was to have a professional photographer document the barn before it is demolished and to erect a
plaque honoring the barn.
The ACHPC is supportive of the memorialization of the Warrick barn and is requesting for the City of
Meridian to have a condition of approval requiring the developer to hire a professional
photographer to take pictures in order to document the historic Warrick barn. In addition, a
condition of approval for the erection of a plaque on a kiosk with the plaque consisting of a
minimum size of at least 2’ x 3’ to be placed in the subdivision’s common area.
