Thank You to Outgoing Commissioners (Leslie Mauldin) Outgoing commissioners Claudia, Ellen, and Mary shared their good-byes and well wishes for the commission. b. Transitioning with New Commissioners (Leslie Mauldin) Ellen recommends having a goal that you want to see created so that it keeps driving you. Gretchen suggested making sure that there is a good orientation including: how the projects are paid for, how the processes work, understand the amount of time this takes, the available resources, and help commissioners better understand how to achieve their goals. c. Meridian Symphony Orchestra Presentation (David Stolhand) Motion by Bonnie; second by Ellen to approve not -to-exceed $500 for contract with the Meridian Symphony Orchestra for support of their youth programs and to be featured in promotions – all ayes – motion carried. d. Arts Commission and Arts Foundation Roles (Hillary Bodnar) To develop, advance and nurture all facets of the arts to enhance the quality of life for Meridian residents and its visitors MERIDIAN ARTS COMMISSION AGENDA  FEBRUARY 8, 2018  PAGE 2 Commissioners asked to send any questions they have about the Meridian Arts Foundation to Leslie or Hillary. We will have the Meridian Arts Foundation present at March meeting. e. Heroes Park Signage Review and Expense (Hillary Bodnar) Motion by Gretchen; second by Ellen to approve not-to-exceed $400 for Heroes Park signage – all ayes – motion carried. f. Meridian Mill Mural Design Review (Ellen DeAngelis) Review Tabled. Ellen shared that she is happy with the current design under review with Zamzow’s. g. 2019 Initial Point Gallery Call to Artists Online (Bonnie Zahn Griffith) Motion by Gretchen; second by Gina to approve $125 to set up gallery application on Online Juried Shows – all ayes – motion carried. 5. Old Business a. Review Strategic Plan FY18 – FY19 and Annual Items (Leslie Mauldin) Strategic Planning Committee members can collect comments from MAC members regarding the strategic plan. Committee will discuss strategic plan items during their committee meeting and bring back feedback to the at-large group as needed. b. Standing Committees – Start March or April (Leslie Mauldin) Strategic Planning Committee: Leslie, Gina, Gretchen Outreach and Education Committee: [new commissioners] Events Committee: Bonnie, Stephanie, Randy-B – will set up a meeting prior to March 8th regular MAC meeting. c. 2017 Annual Report for City Council: February 20, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. 6. Reports, Presentations, Subcommittee Reports, Liaison Reports, Staff Reports a. Approval of Monthly Financial Report (Hillary Bodnar) Motion by Stephanie; second by Bonnie to approve the monthly financial statement – all ayes – motion carried. b. Alexa Rose Foundation (Commissioners who attended) Randy-B and Gretchen reported. Bonnie and Mary also attended. Stephanie asked for clarification if it is just for visual arts – Gretchen said that they cover all forms of art. Randy-B reported that there were a lot of people there [20+]. c. Admin Report (Hillary Bodnar) i. Treasure Valley Regional Cultural Meeting: May 23, 2018 (all day) City of Boise’s Arts and History Department is helping to coordinate a regional cultural meeting. Due to MAC’s size, we are inviting two commissioners – chair and vice chair. If one can’t attend, another commissioner may serve in their place. 7. Next Meeting a. Ethics, Open Meetings, & Bylaws 8. Can members meet at 2:30 or 3:00 on Thursday, March 8 or do they want to meet sooner? Please contact me with your input and/or work with other committee members and figure it out, just let me know when I need to notice a committee meeting. Public Art Projects Updates  Mural Campaign o Getting closer to a finalized design o Installation, last discussed, could be as early as March, but the design still needs to be recommended through MAC to both MDC and City Council. We should ask for MDC’s approval before it goes to Council.  Heroes Park o Thursday, March 15 at 4:00 p.m. Ribbon Cutting. I can create/share announcements through FB and email, but please remember to share and invite friends and network. Initial Point Gallery  Current exhibit: Sarah Kohler, Laura Yager, and Mandy Riley o Install Friday, February 2, 2018 @ 9:30 a.m. o Reception Tuesday, February 6, 2018 from 4:30-7:00 p.m.  Bonnie hosted. o Exhibit will remain up through the end of February.  Next exhibit: OldWaterBoys o Install Friday, March 2, 2018 @ 9:30 a.m. o Reception Tuesday, March 6, 2018 from 4:30-7:00 p.m.  Gretchen to host.
