HPC – August 2017.
There is not much activity to report for July. We received two boxes of books from Dr.
Glen Davidson to add to our collection. Nathaniel from the Meridian Library staff has
picked about a third of them up to add to the inventory & catalogue as books in our
collection.
We have decided to gather the newspaper & magazines we have from previous national
events and put them in one of the smaller file cabinets.
We are still in need of help/volunteers. The Steitz will not be doing the tour guide
activities for the third grade students this year. Barbara Hatch, city volunteer co-
ordinator told me that Gary & Darlene are moving due to some construction and Gary
has back problems that took 6 months to resolve the last time. So we’ll keep asking
those we know who might be interested about volunteering.
Robbie continues to work toward locating homes for citizens here at the time of
incorporation. He has the 1900 & 1910 census information collated and is beginning to
gather family information for those local families.
The summer intern began work on a spread sheet format for the listing of owners of
each property from the title company records, but she had just begun. I will contact Dr.
Frank Thomason to see if he can assist us with this project. T he extraction from the title
company records is done for the Original Townsite and several other early subdivisions
but needs to be in a usable (& readable) format. When the downtown merchants group
needs that information it could be available for use instead of needing it before it is
ready!
