AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 10-1-2 ADOPTION OF UNIFORM
CODE FOR ABATEMENT OF DANGEROUS BUILDINGS TO PROVIDE FOR
AMENDMENTS TO SECTION 301 GENERAL OF THE UNIFORM CODE FOR
THE ABATEMENT OF DANGEROUS BUILDINGS, AND IN PARTICULAR
WITHIN THE DEFINITIONS, TO DELETE THE REFERENCE OF SECTION
3403 IN SECTION 103 ALTERATIONS, ADDmONS AND REPAIRS TO
PROVIDE FOR THE INTERNATIONAL BUILDING CODE, AND TO DELETE
THE REFERENCES IN SECTION 204 INSPECTION OF WORK PERTAINING
TO SECTIONS 108 AND 1701 AND TO PROVIDE FOR THE INTERNATIONAL
BUILDING CODE, TO PROVIDE FOR THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR OR
DESIGNEE TO IIA VE THE POWERS AND DUTY OF BUILDING OFFICIAL,
AND TO PROVIDE FOR PAYMENTS TO THE REPAIR AND DEMOLmON
FUND FOR THE CITY OF MERIDIAN, IDAHO; PROVIDING FOR APPEALS,
CONFLICT, VALIDITY, SAVINGS CLAUSE, AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MERIDIAN, ADA COUNTY, IDAHO:
SECTION 1: That Section 2 Chapter I Title 10 of the Meridian City Code, be, and the
same is hereby amended and shall now read as follows:
10-1-2 A. For the pU1;pOse of this code. certain terms. nhrases.words and their
derivatives shall be construed as specified in either this cha,pter or as specified in
the Building Code or the Housing Code. Where terms are not defined. they shall
have their ordirnu:y acclWted meanings within the context with which they are
used. Webster's Third New International Dictionary of the English Languafle.
Unabridfled. copvright 1986. shall be construed as providing ordinary accented
meanings. Words used in the singular include the plural and the plural the
singular. Words used in the masculine gender include the feminine and the
feminine and masculine.
BUILDING CODE is the Uniform Bl:lilåiøg Code pfelBl:Ilgateå by the

ap'plicable code regulating construction and building within the City of Meridian.
as adopted by the Meridian City Council at MCC-I0-l-4.
DANGEROUS BUILDING is anv building or structure deemed to be dangerous
under the provisions of Section 302 of this code.
HOUSING CODE is the Uniform Housing Code promulgated bv the
International Conference of Building Officials. as adopted by this jurisdiction.
10-1-2 B. That within the 1997 Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous
Buildings. Section 103 - ALTERATIONS. ADDITIONS AND REPAIRS and
Section 204 - INSPECTION OF WORK shall be amended and shall now read as
follows:
SECTION 103 - ALTERATIONS, ADDITIONS AND REPAIRS. All buildings
or structures which are required to be repaired under the provisions of Seetieft
34W-ef.the International Building Code.
SECTION 204 - INSPECTION OF WORK. All buildings or structures within
the scope of this code and all construction or work for which a permit is required
shall be subject to inspection by the building official in accordance with and in the
manner provided by this code and 8eetieB9 109 aaà 1701 of the International
Building Code.
10-1-2 Co POWERS AND DUTIES OF BUILDING OFFICIAL. Whenever
"Building Official" is referred to and used in said Uniform Code for the
Abatement of Dangerous Buildings. it shall be amended to read "Public Works
Director or designee" and all the powers and duties imposed by said Uniform
Code for Abatement of Dangerous Buildings are hereby conferred on the
"Director. or designee" pursuant to the provisions of the Meridian City Code.
10-1-2 D. REPAYMENT OF REPAIR AND DEMOLITION FUND. All monev
recovered by payment of the change or assessment or fÌ"om the sale of the
proPerty at foreclosure sale shall be paid to the treasurer of this jurisdiction. who
shall credit the same to the rlWair and demolition fund.
SECTION 2: All ordinances, resolutions, orders or parts thereof in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed, rescinded and annulled.
SECTION 3: VALIDITY: The Meridian City Council hereby declares that any
section, paragraph, sentence or word of this Ordinance as adopted and amended herein be
declared for any reason to be invalid it is the intent of the Meridian City Council that it
would have passed all other portions of this Ordinance independent of the elimination
hereftom of any portion as may be declared invalid.
SECTION 4: SAVINGS CLAUSE: This Ordinance does not affect an action or
proceeding commenced or right accrued before this Ordinance takes effect.
SECTION 5: DATE OF EFFECT: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
after its passage, approval and publication, according to law.
