2. Thank You: Michelle Glaze (Leslie Mauldin)
Michelle presented an award to Mary for all of her years of service to the Meridian
Arts Commission. The award read “With heartfelt appreciation to Mary Jensen.
Thank you for having your heart in the arts.”
Leslie recognized Michelle for her years on the Arts Commission. Michelle said
thank you and that she appreciated the opportunity to meet all of the commissioners.
3. Welcome New Commissioner: Gina Lyon (Leslie Mauldin)
Gina Lyon was introduced my Leslie. Gina is a realtor, new resident to Meridian, and
loves to give back to her community. She has three kids, two grandkids, and two
dogs .
4. Adoption of the Agenda (Leslie Mauldin)
Motion by Ellen; second by Gretchen to adopt the agenda – all ayes – motion
carried.
5. Approval of February 9, 2017 Regular Meeting Minutes (Leslie Mauldin)
Motion by Stephanie; second by Ellen to approve the minutes – all ayes – motion
carried.
6. New Business
To develop, advance and nurture all facets of the arts
to enhance the quality of life for Meridian residents and its visitors

a. Consideration to Purchase Creative Benches for South Meridian Regional
Park, Designs by Ken McCall (Mike Barton)

(1) Call to Artists
There were some suggested wording changes for how electronic
files can be received. Hillary will work with input provided and work
with Ellen for final approval. Motion by Gretchen; second by
Stephanie to authorize the release of the call to artists after final
signoff by Ellen – all ayes – motion carried.
(2) Art Replacement Process
Mary brought up a comment from a local business who is interested
in putting art on a box that is already currently wrapped. The
commission discussed and determined they should craft some
policy. Gretchen recommend that MAC establish a process first,
then move on to addressing this particular instance. Genesis
recommended a subcommittee form to compile information that
should be included in the policy. Subcommittee members include :
Gretchen, Bonnie, and Mary.
d. Pianos on Parade (Ellen DeAngelis)
Ellen brought Keys 4:4 Kids to the commission’s attention and asked for
preliminary ideas or thoughts from the commission. Mary mentioned that the
Meridian Community center could be a site for the piano. Leslie would like to see
MAC partner with someone for this. No action taken, no commissioners assigned
to spearhead this project.
e. Partnership Request for Meridian Development Corporation (Hillary Bodnar)
Motion by Mary; second by Ellen to request $5k from MDC to mural campaign,
and adding $5k from the MAPS fund to be added to the traffic box budget – all
ayes – motion carried.
f. Election for Vice-Chair (Leslie Mauldin)
Leslie asked commissioners to consider this and add it to next month ’s agenda.
7. Old Business
a. West Ada’s 2017 Student Art Show ‘Framed’ Volunteer Panelists Needed on
Friday, April 21, 2017 at 1:00 PM (Hillary Bodnar)
Bonnie and Gina volunteered to panel the show.
8. Reports, Presentations, Subcommittee Reports, Liaison Reports, Staff Reports

a. Approval of Monthly Financial Report (Hillary Bodnar)
Motion by Claudia; second by Ellen to approve the monthly financial report – all
ayes- motion carried.
b. City Council Report Update (Mary Jensen)
Mary reported back to the commission on Council’s feedback. Council always
likes to see commissioners in the audience.
c. Liaison Reports
(1) Meridian Writes Update (Taylor Farmer)
Taylor served as a judge and really liked the way the scoring sheet was set up
and the person that she worked with at the Library. The thre e finalists were
Venators: Through the Arch by Devri Walls, Mists of Garibaldi by Sherry Briscoe,
and Heart of Petra by Hilery Johnson. Devri Walls was the Meridian Writes grand
prize winner.
(2) Theater & Performing Arts (Gretchen Caserotti)
(1) Lion King Jr. Performances
Gretchen provided a report for this production. There were four
performances, it was an outstanding-phenomenal production, our ad is
on the full back page of the program. Her kids were enraptured
throughout the play and sang the songs on the way home. Nampa
Civic Center house was filled both nights. The commission reviewed a
video that one of the grandparents of the cast members made.
MSO Rising Stars
April 22 is the Rising Stars performance. Gretchen invited the
commissioners to attend and spread the word to continue to lift up
young people in performing arts.
(3) Initial Point Gallery (Bonnie Griffith)
(1) Current Exhibit: Cindy Gillett, Christina Karras, & David
Knoecklein
Bonnie passed around a thank you card from Sherri Young Stehle and
introduced the new show. There were about 30 people that atte nded
the reception.
(4) Dairy Days Art Show, June 24, 2017 (Stephanie Barnes)
Meridian Arts Foundation agreed to sponsor $500, Dairy Board agreed to
contribute $1000, and we’ve sent out more letters for additional
sponsorships. The Parks Department has agreed to help with loading and
un-loading artist works. We’ve got parking for artists covered. We will be
playing some music from local artists, and possibly have some bands
performing live. Stephanie has also found some dancers who are willing to
come dance during the event in the gazebo area.
(5) Concerts on Broadway (Mary Jensen)

(6) Meridian Art Week, September 11-16, 2017 (Hillary Bodnar)
Now that Michelle has left the commission MAC needs to find a new way to
cover Meridian Art Week. Claudia, Gina, Mary, and Bonnie volunteered to
serve on this committee. Hillary will reach out to these commissioners to set
up a subcommittee meeting.
d. Admin Report (Hillary Bodnar)
Hillary shared her admin report, attached.
