As per the fire department rules for capacity, I divide my square footage that I am using which is 1066, by 35, which comes out to watch 30.45 children in my space, (which I am only applying for the small group home daycare up to twelve children) If I use the calculations according to Mr. Kenny Bowers in the Fire Department in City Hall you can see I have adequate space for more than twelve children, but I am only requesting to watch no more than twelve. I had in home pre school in California and was allowed up to 14 children, with similar space, with an assistant, and the space was plenty. The options from Health and Welfare is 1-6 children, 7-12, and 25 +. I have paid the fee to be licensed for small group home which allows 1-12 children, staying within these numbers at all times. While my home is over 2600 sq. ft, I will only use, and access rooms downstairs for child care purposes, which include 3 large rooms, a bathroom and a kitchen with access to outside play area.
