Idaho Ave Placemaking Initiative:
As three year Pilot program
2015 Project Objective: "Create a Sense of Place"
In 2015 we began planning and design to establish a "Sense of Place" along Idaho Avenue. A three year pilot
program began in May of 2o16 in which we prototype and test, elements and amenities laying the groundwork
in preparation to permanent construction and its final streetscape design in coming years
Phase 1; successfully implemented May, 2016, with positive impact, gained people's attention, which
helped influenced 1.6 million of property acquisition and renovation between Main and 2nd on Idaho ave
Phase II — 2017 — 2018, Project objective: Implement Creative Placemaking - part I & 11
Art ow the street; part 1, Continuing LQC philosophy
Arts*loe; physical project anchor, part 2 - Creative enterprise, hub
"Creative placemaking animates public and private spaces, rejuvenates structures and
streetscapes, improves local business viability and public safety, and brings diverse people
together to celebrate, inspire, and be inspired".
Ann Markusen, National endowment of the Arts
Public Art can become a tool, used to promote community pride, create a unique identity
that strengthens our social and economic fabric and to do so one must engage - City of
Meridian, civic leaders and partners.
Art -based community development
Creative Placemaking; marries arts development, with social and economic development
Working together we collaborate, gathering stakeholders, city planners and our civic leaders
to create a strategy, and formulate tactical address process and procedures, to enrich our
urban experience and community exposure.
Building on our past human and financial expense creative activation becomes the Idaho
avenues second phase for opportunity, to intensify and drive Public art density along Idaho
avenue corridor.
Intentionally leveraging the power of the arts in a way that bonds - arts development and
marries social and economic development, to strengthen not only the physical character of
place, but also its social character, in an effort to drive economic development and attract
people to the heart of our city.
"They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself."
Andy Warhol
"Bringing people together to celebrate, inspire, and be inspired"

bridging the gap between art and public space.
In a collective effort, utilizing creative activating tactics, we introduce an art based visual experience to
influence cultural experience along E Idaho Avenue.
