2007-04-11~~ PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING WEDNESDAY, APRIL 11, 2007 AT 7:OOPM Meridian City Hall Council Chambers 33 East Idaho Avenue, Meridian, Idaho Statement of Purpose and Authority: The Parks and Recreation Commission for the City of Meridian is a volunteer citizen's group that is created and empowered to advise the city on issues relating to the park facilities and recreation programs of the City. Their mission is to gather input from staff and other qualified personnel on issues relating to the creation and design of public parks and open spaces; to listen to public input; and to provide advice and recommendations on parks and recreation related matters to the Mayor and City Council. V. 2008 BUDGET ENHANCEMENTS O The commission will establish the priority of both the general and impact fee enhancements for the year 2008. (Commission Recommendation Required) VI. REALIGNMENT/ASSIGNMENT OF COMMISSION COMMITTEES PRESENTED Bruce MacCoy will ask for commissioners to select committees to serve on for the remainder or the year. (Commission Recommendation Required) Vll. COMMITTEES: Committee Meetings will be held monthly immediately following the week of our commission meeting at the Parks & Recreation Department from 7-8pm. A. Park Sign and Naming Committee: Provide naming options for future parks and establish park signage standards,%r out park system. (Mtg Monday 7-8pm) John Nesmith and Andee Stockton B. Future Park Concept Planning Committee: Create park layout options that meet our community needs for all types of'Juture parks the city will develop. Provide precise details on scope and budgetary needs of park plans. (Mtg Tuesday 7-8pm) Creg Steele, Sara Steele and John Nesmith C. Parks Facilities and Amenities Committee: Research options on park facilities and amenities hat can be included in existing and future parks. Provide precise details on scope and budgetary needs ofparkplans. (Mtg Wednesday 7-8pm) Jim Keller and Bruce MacCoy. D. Community Liaison Committee: Determine which public groups, boards, organizations, or commissions that parks and recreation commission should reach out to. Secure and maintain relationships with those organizations.
