Adoption of the Agenda: Motion made to adopt the agenda as presented by Dr. F. Thomason; seconded by Dr. T. Hammond. All ayes — agenda adopted — No further discussion. 3. Approval of the July 10, 2014 Meeting Minutes: Motion made to adopt the minutes as presented by Dr. T. Hammond; seconded by Dr. F. Thomason. All ayes — agenda adopted — No further discussion. 4. Approval of the Monthly Financial Statement: Motion made to approve the financial statement as presented by Dr. F. Thomason; seconded by R. Nesbit. All ayes — minutes approved — No further discussion Spending Request for Walking Tour Field Trip Curriculum Materials: Dr. Thomason recused himself as the Commission intends to purchase his "Meridian" book. Dr. T Hammond motioned to approved a not -to -exceed amount of $1,500. 00 to purchase 90 copies of "Meridian" for distribution to the 3rd grade classrooms for the Walking Tour project; seconded by R. Nesbit. All ayes — no further discussion. b. Spending Request for Walking Tour Brochures: Dr. T Hammond motioned to approved a not -to -exceed amount of $1,500.00 to purchase 2,500 copies of the Walking Tour brochure for distribution to the 3rd grade Meridian Historic Preservation Commission Meeting — September 11, 2014 Page 1 of 3 All materials presented at public meetings shall become property of the City of Meridian. Nesbit. All ayes — no further discussion. 5. Historical Society and History Center Update by Lila Hill: Lila Hill presented. A copy of the written report is on file. 6. Old Business a. Discussion of Internal Process to Notify Commission of Development: Jacy Jones will add Chairman Johnston to the distribution list for all development applications processed through the Clerk's Office. The Commission will consider contacting Council and SHPO to create regulations in regards to development of historic properties or locations during 2015. b. Professional Development Class Update: Commissioner Nesbit presented. Copy of materials on file. c. Walking Tour Field Trip Update: Jacy Jones presented; copy of materials on file. 7. New Business a. Youth Member Seat Re -Appointment: Youth Commissioner Joely Walters was reappointed until August 2015. b. November Meeting Scheduling Discussion: Per Commission instruction the November 13, 2014 meeting will be cancelled and all items rescheduled to a special meeting on November 20, 2014. c. Annual Report Timeline: Jacy Jones provided an updated to the Commission. The draft report will be presented in October, approved in November, and submitted to Council to be used in the Annual Report in December. The Annual Report is provided to the citizens during the Mayor's State of the City address. 8. Discussion of Upcoming Projects for 2014 and Public Outreach 9.
