Broadway, Meridian, Idaho Roll -call Attendance: X Blaine Johnston — Chair X Rich Nesbit O Steve Turney X Dr. Frank Thomason O Dr. Tom Hammond X Joely Walters O Ex -Officio Councilman Joe Borton 2. Adoption of the Agenda: Motion made to adopt the agenda as presented by Dr. F. Thomason; seconded by J. Walters. All ayes — agenda adopted — No further discussion. 3. New Commissioner Introduction: New commissioner Rich Nesbit introduced himself and was welcomed to the group. 4. Election of Commission Vice Chairman: Chairman B. Johnston continued this item to the May 8th meeting to allow for time so Commissioners Turney and Hammond can be present. 5. Approval of the Monthly Financial Statement: Motion made to approve the financial statement as presented by J. Walters; seconded by Dr. F. Thomason. All ayes — minutes approved — No further discussion a. FY2015 Budget Discussion 6. Current City Applications (Review and Comment): No applications to discuss Historical Society and History Center Update by Lila Hill: Lila Hill presented. A copy of the written report is on file. Old Business Walking Tour Update and Launch: Jacy Jones informed the Commission that changes to the panel have been recommended. These changes will delay the installation of the panel at City Hall and the launch date of May 7th will no longer be feasible. It was decided that a Saturday event after Memorial Day and prior to school being let out for the summer would be the best way to launch the event. May 31St at 2:00 pm was decided on as the new date. B. Johnston presented the idea of offering art classes to school age children at the event. Jacy Jones will look into that and provide an update in May. b. Highway 16 Mitigation Completion Jacy Jones informed the Commission that the State Highway 16 mitigation is complete. Dan Everhart with SHPO sent a copy of the final mitigation and properties surveys on a disk. Jacy Jones will work on uploading those file to the history website. The original copy will remain on file in the City Clerk's Office. c. Approval of the Draft Historic Preservation Plan: This item was continued to the May 8th, 2014 meeting. 9. New Business 10. Discussion of Upcoming Projects for 2014 and Public Outreach a. Preservation Month Marketing Material Approval: Jacy Jones will provide a flyerin May for approval and distribution. The Commission discussed ways to promote the event. Marketing materials will be widely distributed through the Mayor's Office channels as well as social media. b. Public Outreach Planning c. Others 11. Next Meeting: Thursday, May 8, 2014 a. Discussion of Possible Meeting Topics The Commission will elect a Vice Chair and finalize budget and marketing information for the May meeting.
